Folk Harp Maker
Peter Brown is an engineer, working to develop large-scale solar power projects in Oregon. He has also held engineering, sales, and marketing positions in infrared optics, laser test systems, bar code data collection, and energy conservation and consulting. On the side, he has also pursued a lifelong interest in woodworking. He has built two harpsichords, one of which he still plays, having donated the other to his church. About twelve years ago, his middle school daughter decided she wanted to play the harp, so he looked around for kit instruments and built her one. One harp led to more, and he has now built about a dozen, which he rents and sells from his home in Bozeman. These range from beginning student models to full-size five-octave folk harps.
