Jamie Fox is a Métis fiddler from the Aaniih (Gros Ventre) and Nakoda (Assiniboine) communities of Montana. She grew up on the Fort Belknap Reservation in northern Montana, where she was immersed in a vibrant tradition of fiddle music and dance that continues to shape her craft. Fox has become one of the most respected and sought-after performers of Métis fiddle music, a lively style that blends Indigenous musical traditions with influences from French, Celtic, and other European folk forms. The Métis are an Indigenous people of Canada and parts of the United States who trace their descent to both Indigenous North Americans and European settlers, developing a distinct culture, language traditions, and musical heritage.

Sapphire Ferguson-Jetty is descendant of the Spirit Lake Dakota and Turtle Mountain Chippewa, and she is very passionate about fiddle music. Performance credits include the All-Nations Tipi Village during the 150th anniversary celebration of Yellowstone Park, at the Myrna Loy Theatre in Helena as part of a Metis cultural celebration and in the first, second and fourth MPN Winter Lodge Rendezvous. An award-winning musician, Sapphire often plays at community gatherings and is a jingle dress dancer participating in regional powwows. This year, she is apprenticing under Jamie through the Montana Arts Council’s program, deepening her knowledge of Métis fiddle tradition.
